Professor Brian MacCraith Op-Ed in The Hill
Professor Brian MacCraith, President of Dublin City University, will launch the new WIP Class of 2013 at an event in Washington on the 19th March. Professor MacCraith will be joined by Dr Malcolm McKibbin, Head of the Civil Service (Northern Ireland).
To coincide with the WIP launch, Professor MacCraith has an OpEd in The Hill entitled “Learning the lessons of the Irish peace process“. In the piece Professor MacCraith writes:
The success achieved to date in the Irish peace process has relied heavily on our American friends who have accompanied us on the arduous journey to peace and reconciliation. However, even as we export our extensive knowledge of conflict resolution around the globe, we must guard against complacency in relation to our own turbulent past.
And he goes on to promote a great new initiative in DCU:
The new Institute for International Conflict Resolution and Reconstruction (IICRR) at DCU will ensure that the definitive story of the Irish peace process is captured, analyzed with academic rigor and made available to actors in various peace processes globally.
WIP looks forward to collaborating with the IICRR and to the WIP Class of 2013 contributing to the process of peace and reconciliation on our island.
