South Africa Washington International Program (SAWIP)
The South Africa Washington International Program is WIP’s sister organization. Founded by WIP Alumni and volunteers, inspired by their WIP experiences, SAWIP aims to identify and support the next generation of young leaders in South Africa.
Starting in 2007, SAWIP identifies some of South Africa’s most talented students and places them on a program modeled on WIP – where students from diverse backgrounds, with leadership potential and a commitment to services are provided with an opportunity to work in Washington DC and go through an extensive leadership development program.
During June and July there are many shared learning opportunities for WIP and SAWIP students – providing both sets of young leaders with external and international perspectives on the progress and challenges which have been achieved in their countries.
Today, SAWIP has become a means for young South Africans to take on great responsibilities as they encourage others to contribute to positive social change.
