All Ireland Scholars join WIP in Limerick
We were delighted to convene some exceptional young people from Universities across the Island of Ireland for the inaugural WIP-All Ireland Scholars Summit.
All Ireland Scholars are gifted young students across Northern Ireland and Ireland, who have achieved the highest academic achievements in economically disadvantaged areas. They receive extra financial support to enable them to participate in all aspects of college life during their third level education.
The Summit, supported by the US Embassy Dublin and the JP McManus Foundation, and hosted by the University of Limerick, sought to build the leadership, personal effectiveness and resilience skills of the next generation of leaders in Ireland.
Speaking at the event, at one of his last official engagements in post, US Ambassador to Ireland Kevin O’Malley praised WIP’s work stating:
Over six hundred leaders from all communities, from Northern Ireland and Ireland, have been involved in this Program, and it has supported the very best and brightest to succeed and to make progress at all levels of society. Knowing what this Program is about, and what brought you here makes me optimistic for the future.
