WIP Voices: Ireland 2040

In late September, the WIP Class of 2017 shared their reflections after a summer of debates in the US on the economy, issues of identity and managing migration.
They were joined by guest panelists from business, government and the arts – and Taoiseach Leo Varadkar TD (WIP Class of 2000)

Special Guest: Jake Sullivan, senior advisor through the Obama Administration and to Hillary Clinton.

At our annual Thanksgiving we awarded Nuala McAllister, Lord Mayor of Belfast and Alumna of the WIP Class of 2010, and Norman Houston, Director of the Northern Ireland Bureau with the ‘Spirit of WIP’ Award.

Washington Ireland Program

For more than two decades, engaging emerging leaders across the island of Ireland to overcome divisions of the past and to build a shared future of peace and prosperity for Northern Ireland and Ireland.

Spirit of WIP Awards

Each year at our Thanksgiving Ball, we celebrate the exceptional contribution of an Alum and a community member, awarding them our highest honour – the Spirit of WIP Award.

President Higgins praises the work of WIP

Through their involvement in the Program, these young people have forged enduring bonds of friendship with fellow program participants from other parts of Ireland – parts of the island with which they may not have been familiar and people from communities with whom they may never have previously engaged.
